Today, 27 November, the first day of the Indigenous Dialogue Platform meeting is taking place in Berlin, focusing on the situation of Indigenous peoples in Russia and cooperation with Russian democratic forces in exile. The event runs on 27–28 November and is implemented with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office.

On the first day, participants are working within a thematic conference, discussing manifestations of discrimination and systemic racism, the consequences of colonial policies, and issues of federalization and the right to self-determination. Separate panels are dedicated to linguistic and cultural rights, the impact of extractive projects on traditional territories, environmental risks, and the effects of the climate crisis. The consequences of militarization and Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine are also addressed.

A roundtable is scheduled for tomorrow, during which representatives of Indigenous peoples and Russian democratic forces in exile will discuss possible approaches to the country’s future political structure and the role of Indigenous communities in these processes.

The organizers emphasize that the meeting serves as an important platform for professional dialogue on the rights and prospects of Indigenous peoples in Russia.
