Yana Tannagasheva is an Indigenous woman and environmental activist from the Kemerovo region (South-West Siberia). For many years, Yana has opposed the barbaric coal mining in the Kemerovo region (Kuzbass), working on protecting and promoting the rights of her Shor Indigenous People.
Yana was forced to leave Russia due to persecution and threats from the Russian authorities and coal mining companies. She has been living in Sweden as a refugee since 2018. Yana’s YouTube channel «Coal Kills Us» is about coal mining, violations of the Indigenous Peoples’ rights, and the Kuzbass region’s ecocide.
